As the nationwide initiative to promote reading through legislation continues to advance, the “Scholarly United · Reading Together” series of reading activities launched by the labor union of Zhuhai United Laboratories Co., Ltd. concluded successfully with the “Step Into Your Reading Comfort Zone” salon event on April 21.

Over the past month, the campaign attracted participation from 10 departments and workshops, with more than 300 employees joining this reading journey and sparking a strong enthusiasm for reading across the company. Activities included daily reading check-ins, book-sharing sessions, parent-child reading days, reading reflection walls, book exchanges, classic recitations, online marathon-style reading discussions, and the “One Hour of Quiet Reading” initiative. Colleagues actively recommended books to one another, fostering a culture of continuous learning and lifelong learning throughout the organization.

On the closing day of the event, more than 30 reading enthusiasts gathered in the company’s Party and Mass Activities Room. The first activity was a “Poetry Fragment Team Challenge”, where each participant held a line from a poem and searched for others whose lines completed the same literary work. Teams quickly formed amid high-fives and laughter, instantly filling the room with energy and excitement.

During the following “Book Lovers Open Mic” session, participants spoke freely and shared their personal stories with books. Some talked about how a particular book helped them through difficult times, some enthusiastically recommended hidden gems they had recently discovered, while others simply said, “This book helped me figure something out.” Everyone expressed themselves sincerely, and everyone listened attentively, filling the small activity room with genuine connection and resonance. The event concluded with a creative handicraft session titled “Preserving Spring,” where participants placed pressed flowers into envelope-style photo frames, capturing the gentleness of April in a unique and memorable keepsake.

Reading culture is not limited to April. The company’s labor union will continue to build warm and supportive reading platforms for employees, ensuring that the sound of turning pages continues to resonate in everyday life.
